Alena Grabowski earned her BA (1998) and PhD (2007) degrees from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
She has previously conducted research on the biomechanics and metabolic demands of human walking and
running, as well as the biomechanical effects of sports equipment. Alena is a postdoctoral fellow in
the Biomechatronics Group. Her current research goals are to implement wearable mechanical devices
such as prostheses and exoskeletons to better understand the biomechanics and metabolic power
required for human locomotion. She also seeks to improve these devices in order to assist and
eventually augment human walking and running performance.
